February’s Jamie Jones event was one of the highlights of our year. Despite some great sets from guests as distinguished as Steve Bug, Sven Weisemann, Ivan Smagghe and Lee Burridge, it was arguably Jamie’s set in that dark basement, which stood head and shoulders above all the other guests.
Now with an album to his name and an even busier dj schedule, Jamie has managed to find time to return to Cardiff. If you missed the previous event, then here is your chance to see what all the fuss was about.

After the sell out success of last year, C-Y-N-T and Cool House (plus some of South Wales most talented DJ’s) come together for what can only be described as ‘The Biggest House Party in Cardiff”. The NYE parties at Koko’s are always so popular because NYE is a time to spend with mates, in fun, safe surroundings. This is why house music is the perfect soundtrack encompassing everything NYE should be about; energy, love, and celebration!
At Koko’s the parties are held across 2 floors and an outdoor roof terrace, away from the commercial tackiness of town, and more importantly, the city centre drink prices! If you compare our NYE party to one in town, you won’t be queueing for hours to get into the venue, you won’t be caught up in endless punch-ups, and won’t be surrounded by hundreds of strangers who have no appreciation for the music! The entire venue will be filled to the brim with huge soundsystems, bass bins, smoke and lasers to the point you’ll forget where you are!
Upstairs in the Attic, Cardiff’s original underground clubnight, Cool House, will be providing the groove fuelled House + Techno.Downstairs in the Bar, after another year of monster parties, the C-Y-N-T crew will be supplying the heavy bassline Electro, Techno, Breaks, Dnb, and Dubstep, so there’s something here for everyone!
We’re running until we decide it’s time to stop, but will be laying on a greasy breakfast in the bar to soak up the booze when the sun comes up.
Tickets are just £10 which you’ll agree is mega-cheap for a NYE night out. This sells out every year IN ADVANCE, which means tickets are a must-have!

Cool House and C-Y-N-T join forces for A Halloween special. Hanging upside down amongst all the bats and Cool House residents will be Berlins’s SVEN WEISEMANN. Despite only being twenty-three years old, he has already carved out a niche which is unmistakably his own. When he’s not making elegantly smooth deep house tracks for labels like MOJUBA and LIEBE* DETAIL, he’s busy composing modern classical pieces for piano andcello. Those more familiar with Weisemann’s own productions may be surprised by his DJing style, as he weaves effortlessly between his trademark deeper sound and classic house and techno dancefloor jack tracks.
Influenced by the fast cuts and energetic approach of legendary DJs such as DERRICK MAY and JEFF MILLS, Sven uses THREE turntables for maximum effect, and doesn’t shy away from working the mixer to the bone. With such a wide range of influences, we thought it’d only be right to get Sven down for a three hour set.
JULIO BASHMORE. At only the tender (and enviable) age of 20, has already begun to make waves beyond a local scene which has seen him peddle his individual house, disco, funky and dubstep wares for stalwart parties such as JUST JACK, BUGGED OUT and SOCIALISM. Gaining recognition from the likes of trendsetting blog CURB CRAWLERS, (who recently featured 3 of Bashmores tunes), DROWNED IN SOUND and Dirty Bird Records legendary CLAUDE VON STROKE - whom, on hearing ‘Um Bongo’s Revenge’, liked it so much he dropped it at Creamfields - shows that the current interest surrounding the lad is more than justified.
Now he’s donning a cape and fangs for the Fake Blood room at Koko’s joined by local vamps San Francisco and Ali Davenport for a night of shadow dancing and bloodthirsty bleeps.

Question: What year was the last Cool House party held at The Great Hall? Answers:To info@cool-house.co.uk

Cool House is expanding our team as we increase the size of our 2009/10’s parties. We would like to hear from enthusiastic people that share our love of underground music and enjoy being part of a successful team.
We are looking for students and young professionals to help promote Cool House, sell tickets, set up the production of events, DJ and also VJ at Cool House. In return we will offer free entry to all future events, cash incentives and Cool House clothing.
If you think you can offer any of the above then please get in touch with us on coolhousecardiff@yahoo.co.uk

Cool House return to the Great Hall after a two year break for a massive party in conjunction with Weekend Offender clothing. We are very pleased to announce an exclusive DJ set from one of the most dance orientated rock bands on the planet, Bloc Party.
Returning to Cool House is Paris’s coolest DJ, Ivan Smagghe who we simply had to have back after blowing us all away in January 2007, and after she missed her flight earlier in the year BBC Radio 1’s Heidi finally joins us at our biggest event of the year.
Cool House will be returning to The Great Hall which in the past has featured the likes of Deep Dish, Nic Fanciulli, Hernan Cattaneo, Cassius, Funk D’Void & Simon Baker to name a few.
This year we will be looking for an extra DJ to play at this event on September 26th.
Want to play ? all you need to do is bring a 30 minute mix to the Lee Burridge event on the 1st August at KoKo Gorillaz and hand it to one of our residents. Please include name, number and e-mail with the mix.
Cool House towers will then pick the mix that stands out from the rest and announce the winner on September 19th.
Good Luck
